A PARTING SHOT

We all love to be outside in the sun. And we actually need about 10 minutes a day to get the vitamin D necessary for good health, especially true for your bones. Here’s Christie’s advice:

SPINACH

This leafy green has lutein and other carotenoids, which protect you from sun damage. Note: Make sure to store your spinach in the light until you eat it to help it retain vitamins like C, K, and E.

CARROTS

Carotenoids have been shown to help fight aging by protecting skin from UV damage, and carrots are one of the best sources of this nutrient.

And don’t forget to wear sunscreen every day – even the cloudy ones! If you’re worried about not getting the Vitamin D because of wearing sunscreen, leave a small portion of your leg uncovered for 10 minutes, then apply your sunscreen to that part. Do a different part of your body every day, but always cover your face and neck.
