Why was Cleopatra so beautiful? How do women around the world look 20 years younger than their actual age? Maybe they were just born that way…or maybe these women are engaging in an ancient beauty tradition that you’ve never heard of. Here are three beauty formulas that have been used for centuries.

1. Ancient Egypt: Milk and Honey Bath

Cleopatra is well-known for being one of the most beautiful women in history, but how did she do it? Milk, honey and olive oil. Legend tells us that the famous queen used to bathe in these 3 ingredients every night to keep her skin soft and supple. Chances are, you have all three of these items in your kitchen right now. Give it a shot!

2. Israel: Myrrh Oil

Essential oils are everywhere these days and for good reason! They’re basically like plant extract. Lavender and peppermint are the most popular, but according to the bible, myrrh is a must have. It was known to rejuvenate and tone the skin. In fact, before a woman would be allowed to see King Xerxes, she would have to apply myrrh oil to her body for 6 months before she was allowed to meet him. A little dramatic on Xerxes’ part, but I guess myrrh is just that special.

3. India: Moringa Oil

Indian royalty wouldn’t be caught dead without their moringa oil. According to myth, Indian women of the royal palace would start their bathing routine off by massaging moringa oil into their hair and roots. This “miracle oil” was rumored to enhance shine and encourage hair growth. Maybe that’s why every hindu goddess had crazy long hair!
